While working on this, I kept listening to my favorite piece by Debussy, Clair de Lune, on repeat. I’m not a huge classical music fan, but this piece has been my favorite since I was fifteen. If I ever had to describe the feeling of moonlight to someone who couldn’t see, I think I’d play them this music and say, “This is what moonlight feels like.”

Recently, I met someone who can’t distinguish between red and green, and I found that really fascinating. I want to show this painting to someone like that, someone who can’t see those colors, and tell them, “This is what the color of moonlight looks like.”
